Ceph — advanced administration and production operations
Running Ceph in production requires going beyond the default configuration: declarative service specifications, custom CRUSH maps, block gateways beyond the native protocol, cross-site replication and non-disruptive upgrades. This course covers all of these topics across two separate clusters, deployed by each participant.
Training objectives
- Drive the cluster lifecycle through declarative service specifications.
- Customize the CRUSH map: failure and performance domains.
- Provide block storage beyond the native protocol: iSCSI and NVMe-oF gateways.
- Deploy the object gateway in multisite mode and expose the file system over NFS.
- Implement block and file mirroring for disaster recovery.
- Tune performance, carry out an upgrade and troubleshoot.
Target audience
- Storage engineers and senior systems administrators.
- Cloud architects and data infrastructure managers.
- Teams running a Ceph cluster in production.
Prerequisites
- Ceph Overview course or hands-on cluster operations experience.
- Advanced Linux administration and solid container skills.
