Yonder — migrating virtual machines to OpenStack, Proxmox and KubeVirt
Yonder is the migration platform developed by EC INTELLIGENCE: it performs cold migration of virtual machines from VMware vSphere and ESXi to OpenStack, Proxmox VE and KubeVirt. Disk extraction, conversion, guest adaptation and import into the target are orchestrated from a single interface. This course makes teams self-sufficient with the tool.
Training objectives
- Understand the Yonder architecture and the migration processing chain.
- Deploy the platform and its conversion engine, and secure the configuration.
- Connect VMware sources and OpenStack, Proxmox VE and KubeVirt targets.
- Prepare, plan and run batch migration campaigns.
- Master guest adaptation and network configuration carry-over.
- Check, validate and document migrations, and troubleshoot failures.

Prerequisites
- Linux administration and container basics.
- Knowledge of a VMware environment and of the intended target platform.

Day 1 — Architecture and deployment
- Migration chain: extraction, conversion, adaptation, import
- Service architecture and the role of the conversion engine
- Deployment, configuration, security and workspace sizing
Day 2 — Sources, targets and first migration
- Connecting the source and discovering the inventory
- Configuring OpenStack, Proxmox VE and KubeVirt targets
- Running a first end-to-end migration and checkpoints
Day 3 — Campaigns, adaptation and operations
- Batch migration: planning, prioritization and downtime windows
- Guest adaptation and network configuration carry-over
- Post-migration acceptance, failure diagnosis and upgrades
Certification
At the end of this training, you will receive a certificate of participation issued by squint.
