Advanced Ansible — developer: modules, plugins and collections
When existing modules are no longer enough, extending Ansible becomes necessary. This course is entirely devoted to Python development around Ansible: designing production-quality modules, plugins, unit tests, packaging into versioned collections and continuous integration pipelines.
Training objectives
- Understand the internal architecture of modules and their lifecycle.
- Develop robust, idempotent Python modules.
- Write unit test suites and simulate engine calls.
- Develop plugins: callback, filter, lookup and action.
- Package modules and plugins into a versioned collection.
- Build a complete continuous integration pipeline through to publication.
Target audience
- Python developers and DevOps engineers.
- Automation engineers and internal collection maintainers.
- Platform teams building their automation tooling.
Prerequisites
- Ansible fundamentals course or equivalent level.
- Intermediate-level Python is essential.
