GitLab CE and CI/CD — industrializing collaboration and deployments

GitLab Community Edition brings code management, merge request review, project tracking and continuous integration together in a self-hosted platform. This course covers Git, the platform and building delivery pipelines through to real deployment, with one section devoted to quality and another aimed at team leads.

  • Master the Git data model and the essential commands.
  • Administer groups, projects, roles and built-in tracking tools.
  • Conduct effective code review and protect branches.
  • Design multi-environment integration and deployment pipelines.
  • Integrate code quality, security analysis and pipeline observability.
  • Connect infrastructure automation and steer a project.

Day 1 — Git and platform first steps

  • Git data model, commits and core commands
  • Branches, merging, conflicts, history rewriting and remote synchronization
  • GitLab CE: groups, projects, roles and built-in tracking tools

Day 2 — Code review and delivery pipelines

  • Merge requests: lifecycle, review and branch protection
  • Anatomy of a pipeline: runners, variables, artifacts and cache
  • Advanced pipelines: conditional triggering, environments, rollback

Day 3 — Quality, observability and steering

  • Code quality and security analysis in the community edition
  • Pipeline observability: durations, logs, notifications and reliability
  • Automation-driven deployment and project steering for managers

At the end of this training, you will receive a certificate of participation issued by squint.
